Most of the time, it seems like there’s nothing worse than having to go food shopping on a weekend.
The supermarkets by us are old, the aisles are too small, and in the company’s quest to maximize revenue and limit the amount of space you can walk on, they cram as many awkwardly angled rows in the produce department as possible, creating bottlenecks like you’re trying to enter the Lincoln Tunnel.
Of course, we have very different views on our supermarket visits.
Jess likes to go at her own pace, ignore the grumpy faces around her, browse for the things she wants. And sometimes, if it’s too crowded or there are too many people in any one section, she gets anxiety and completely shuts down.
Then, there’s Mike. He makes an organized list broken into categories and only strays off the list when buying cookies or ice cream. There is no browsing. There is no stopping. He actually times himself to see how fast he can get out of the store.
And, if someone gets in his way, watch out.
Needless to say, this creates differing opinions on the whole process of shopping, clipping coupons, and the employees. Check out our debates and observations, as we navigate these aisles.
