There’s nothing better than the smell of home cooked dinners, of sautéing onions in butter and olive oil, of the crunch of freshly baked garlic bread that’s just the right amount of cheesy and just a little bit too greasy.
There’s nothing better than staring at a recipe and all the ingredients, wondering how they’re all going to come together to make the perfect bite, spending hours prepping and chopping, of sizzling and flipping; of sipping on wine and laughing about mistakes.
We love to cook. Well, Jess likes to cook and loves to bake, whereas Mike loves to cook, hates to clean up the mess he made while doing it, and loves to taste Jess’s latest baking creations.
For our bridal shower so many moons ago, Jess’s mom had the great idea of having everyone fill out a recipe card of one of their favorite dishes.
This section is going to be a dedication to that brilliant idea, with our own twists and discoveries along the way.
We’d love to hear if you try any of our recipes, the changes you made, and even if you flat out hated everything about it. Tag us on your favorite social media channel using #JMLrecipes and we may even add your images to our collection!
Favorite Dishes
This is a collection of our staples, our go-tos. These are the dishes that we’ve cooked more times than we can count.
We’ve tried to add in some of our different techniques or twists, and will continue to do so. But the posted recipe is, well, our favorite. Some may even include alternate takes at the bottom (or will in the future).

Baking
One of the reasons Jess doesn’t like cooking as much as she likes to bake is that she likes to follow recipes and instructions. After mastering a new recipe, she adds more of this or uses less of that to make the recipe match our tastes.
Here, you’ll find Jess’s latest creations. Try them yourself!

Holidays
Mike always refers to Thanksgiving as the Super Bowl of cooking. There are so many different dishes to worry about, the turkey always cooks faster or slower than it should, and it’s taken years for him to realize how long it takes chicken broth to boil for the mashed potatoes.
But those challenges have all gone down in the notes. These little pieces of information will help you on the big day too!
Plus, we have recipes for many other holidays, including Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl Sunday, and BBQ favorites.
